Founded in 1892 by Fanny Breckler, Betts began as a small bootmaker’s shop in Perth. Five generations later, we’re still family-owned, and still obsessed with making shoes worth remembering. From the Breckler Brothers to the next in line, our story is stitched with ambition, innovation, and more than a few bold steps.
WORN IN, NOT WORN OUT
We’ve built the biggest shoe stores in the Southern Hemisphere. Designed shoes for every kind of sole. And made our fair share of comebacks along the way. Because when you’ve been around for 130+ years, reinvention isn’t a phase, it’s a family tradition.
We’ve launched brands, opened doors, and ridden the retail rollercoaster the whole way. At our best, we were Australia’s favourite family shoe store. At our busiest, we learned that being everything to everyone rarely fits. So we did what we do best, found our footing again.
THE HEEL TURN
In 2025, we hit reset. Relaunched our online store with a bold new brand that will roll out in store throughout 20206. Now, we’re building a fashion-led brand for modern women, one that shakes off school shoe memories and steps confidently into something new. We make shoes that are classic with a twist: familiar yet fresh, timeless yet trend-aware. Because a great pair of shoes doesn’t just complete your outfit, it changes how you walk through the world.
