As a proud Western Australian owned and operated business supporting our local fashion industry and a new generation of talented designers and creatives is essential to the Betts ethos, and this year we were very excited to continue our partnership with the Telstra Perth Fashion Festival as the Official Shoe Supplier.
We teamed up with local Perth based Fashion and Lifestyle Bloggers Louisa and Holly from The Boyfriend Shirt - who you may remember from their coverage of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, to share candid shots from backstage, their favourite moments from this year’s Telstra Perth Fashion Festival and the key trends to watch out for!
This year’s Telstra Perth Fashion Festival HQ was Fashion Paramount at Crown Pyramid. Differing from the venues of other years, the Crown Pyramid brought together beauty bars, hair touch ups stations, bars and the runway under one seriously impressive roof.
MODELS WEAR DIVINE THE STRAPPY STILETTO HEEL
One of our favourite things to watch each year are the young up-and-coming designers that WA is turning out and this year’s New Generation show was no different. Highlights were the Tech Fashion category which focused on wearable technology and smart fabrics, showing the way for the future of fashion.
Closing night featured Wheels and Dollbaby in a 30th anniversary extravaganza, oozing glamour and sex appeal with models slinking down the runway exclusively in Betts before closing to the Divinyls featuring Isabella and Jack from The Preatures to get the closing night party started.
We were fortunate to be guests at several shows throughout the week in which a few key trends definitely stood out. The 90’s are still in full swing with sleek and sophisticated silhouettes abound, with hair and make-up kept relatively fresh and natural. Shoe trends were a bit more diverse with both the stiletto heel and the sneaker appearing at most shows.
While a week of fashion shows is definitely our idea of heaven, it does take a bit of preparation to make sure everything goes smoothly. Our essentials would have to be:
1. A portable phone charger to make sure you don’t miss a moment of fun.
2. Water and snacks! Nothing is worse than getting hangry so packing a few snacks keeps us focused during the week.
3. A sense of humour. You never know what is going to happen and from broken zippers to stacking it in front of the street style photographers we have definitely seen (and done) it all. While fashion is a serious business you definitely need to be able to step back and have a giggle at yourself every now and then.
