New York City Guide

New York City Guide

Hi guys my name is Nadine, I am the Senior Digital Marketing and Retail Coordinator here at Betts. I recently jetted off to New York with my best friend - and former Betts colleague Lei Lei, for the ultimate girl’s trip; three weeks in The Big Apple living like locals as well as eating, drinking and shopping our way through the city.

I was lucky enough to road test some of our new Betts summer styles, when choosing what shoes to bring with me to New York I knew I would be walking a lot – we averaged about 15,000 steps a day and on some days got up to 22,000 steps, so I needed options that would be both comfortable, versatile and work with a variety of looks. Scroll down to discover my New York City guide and see what Betts shoes you need in your wardrobe this summer!

Cha Cha Matcha – For those that love matcha, this is your heaven.

Joe’s Pizza in Brooklyn – Get the best $2 slice pizza.

Magnolia Bakery – Obligatory stop for their famous red velvet cake.

Eleni’s – Their playfully decorated cookies are a must.

Wearing our bow mule HIGHLIGHT

1. Pack the right shoes – Before I pack for a holiday I always allocate my shoes to specific activities; walking and exploring; sneakers, casual strolling; sandals and evenings and event; heels. Another important rule when packing shoes for a holiday is to make sure they are versatile enough to go with a variety of different outfits.

2. Follow relevant Instagram accounts in the city you are visiting – Some of the best places I went to were through recommendations from people on Instagram.

3. Write a see, do, eat list - Prepare a list of the things you want to see, do and eat, it helps organise your days, maximise your time and avoids you walking around aimlessly.

4. Bring a portable phone charger and a spare camera battery with you everywhere – This is the best tip I was told before travelling, if you are planning to take a lot of photos on your phone and camera as well as Instagram Story and Snapchat I suggest investing in a portable phone charger and a spare camera battery.

5. Enjoy the moment - Although we all want to capture that perfect shot for the gram, just remember to enjoy the moment and take in all of your surroundings.
